Home Again

February 23, 2010

Team Allendale arrived safely in Michigan once again tonight. Much to our surprise, Nate’s family and girlfriend were waiting for him at the airport. Thank you for sharing him with us this week. Some of the team went separate ways from there, but will always have unity as brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for all your prayers for this team. For changed lives of people in Guatemala and also among our team. A Dios sea la Gloria!

Medical Clinic – Day 2

February 22, 2010

Thank you for all your prayers last night. We had a 2 1/2 hour drive to the coast. The explorer said it was over 100 degrees, but we don’t know how accurate that is. Dan was feeling under the weather, so he let Nate drive his van. Nate has been a wonderful blessing for this team. We now have matching sides on the bumper on the back though. Maybe we can post a picture of it soon. : )
We saw about 55 families in the clinic and about 10 people came forward initially to accept Christ. After that, two rounds of children came forward and it was such a blessing to hear their sweet voices in unison accepting Christ and saying the prayer. To God be the Glory!
Everyone is looking forward to shopping today and ice cream!
Please pray for our final devotions tonight, that those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ will choose Him tonight!

Medical Clinic Day 1

February 20, 2010

Went into a beautiful mountain village of about 65 families. Ran a medical clinic followed by a rousing service. During the medical clinic many of the people had an opportunity to play, talk and reach out to the members of this community.
This apparently was a village steeped in religion, but it wasn’t very religious. Do you know anyone like that? By the end of the night though, many of the village came to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord.
Tomorrow we head for a clinic along the coast with a village of about 130 families. Please continue to pray for the great things God is doing here through us.

Day 3 – Dedication Day

February 19, 2010

Today we finished building the 4 houses.  We gave them many things, including blankets, beds, a pillow, a rug,  a shelf, a picture etc.  Beyond all these things, nothing was as important as the greatest gift received – Jesus Christ into their hearts and lives for eternity.  Praise the Lord with us, all 4 families accepted Christ today.  The Mayor of the village came at the end and thanked us with tears in his eyes.

Please pray for us tomorrow as we drive up in the mountains for a medical clinic.

Day 2

February 18, 2010

We had an awesome day of work today – physical work and work building relationships.  We sanded drywall, put stucco on outdoor walls of our houses we’re building, put in windows, built verandas on all four.  We spent more time today getting to know the families we’re building the houses for.  Some of our gals particularly “worked” hard at this – playing games like “London Bridge” and “Duck, Duck, Goose” with the kids.  We look forward to painting and installing the roofs tomorrow, and getting to spend more time with the families.

Please continue to pray for us, that we would be kept safe and healthy, and that our efforts would pave the way for God to work.  We pray for salvation for those we see all around us!

Building Day 1

February 18, 2010

Thank you for all your prayers for a safe arrival!  We got off to a great start building 4 houses with the help of Nasario, Hermano Jesus, Sue Sue and Nate.

We have a lot of newbies that are really enjoying themselves.  The view is breathtaking from our building site.  The teams are bonding and building relationships with eachother and the Guatemalans.

Please pray for us today as we continue building (houses and relationships).
