Hi Everyone,
This is the first time that any of us have had time to eamil anyone. We arrived at the mission after !:00 AM and we all kind of tired especaily when we had to each carry our own 50 lb bag, heavy carry on’s and 50 more pouns of meds. We all went to bed fairly soon after we arrived here. We got to sleep in til 6:00 AM and then had a bout a 2 hour drive up the mts. It was just beautfiul We were about 9,000 ft where we started to build our 4 homes. It started out cool, and I we were glad that we had long sleeve shirts to wear. What a differnce once the sun came up. I am very sunburnt around my neck and my arms! It was at least in the 80′s today. We have the homes all framed and the dry wall it up too. Tomorrow we will putty, sand and put stucco on the outside.
Thanks for your emails!! All of the women sleep in one room with 8 bunkbeds. The smaae for the men. We have a cook here and supper was waiting for us when we returned today. I got so dirty that I was the only one who took a shower before I ate! We had to climb a long, kind of dangerous trek carrying all of the power screwdrivers, and other equpment as well to the sites where we built the homes. We were gone around 12 hrs today. Devortions are at 8:00 and I think that most of us will crash then.Love to all of you. Thanks for all of your prayers. Love Hen

Hello Everyone.
I just wrote a letter and somehow is disappeared. So now I will try again. We have devortions at 8:00 so I will have to make this short.
We had a wonderful, awesome day. We dedicated the four homes and all of the people in all of the homes accepted Christ as theis Savior! each team member , along with Pastor Jesus, and Dan goes inside the new home. We give them a old suitcase filled with things that we have taken along with us. Nancy even took a throw rug. blanket and pillow for them They were so happy that they cried. One of the homes was for the village mayor. Just before we left the village, he spoke to us and he became broken up. He too accepted Christ and was so huumbled and thankful that we came and told him and his village about Jesus. We cried too knowin g that there are new names written in glory!!
We are going to the coast tomorrow. Oposite direction from today. We probably won’t be back until after midnight they said. It is acouple hrs drive.
Frank, please tell Panere, thanks for her note We all love Nate. He is our driver and is alot of fun. bye for now Love hen
Morning Sweetheart,
It’s 5:00am, I’m heading out for my 6-8 miles this morning, PTL for all the families that accepted the Lord when the team dedicated the homes. I’m sure today will really be a FUN day, one on one contact as you work the clinic and meet sooooo many new people of the area. My prayers are with the whole team as you go out on another part of your mission down there. Grace & Peace as you head out today.., love, frank
GoodMorning,
Another beautiful day. Nate fixed us french toast for breakfast. He is a 4 star chef,at the Grand Plaza hotel, so you know it was good! He also drives us around every day. He will be coming back with us to Michigan again, after spending several weeks here.
WE will be putting beans ande rice, with scoops preety soon, before we head out for the day. I think we will do a few hundred of them . We will pass them out tonight, after the clinic, and they have seen the Jesus film and heard the gospel and way of salvation from Hernando Jesus. Then we use our flashlights, as there is only about one outlit for lights in the places that we go to. Please pray that many more will accept the call to follow Christ today too.
I laid in bed last night , still thinking about what the mayor of the village told us. He came emontional and said. I know that you all came from a long ways away, but we are so thankful that you came here. How else would we have know about the way of salvation. Who would have told us about the love of Jesus. We all started to cry, once again. We did that allot yesterday and probably today too!! Tears of joy for our precious Savior!!
Time to go. Love and kiss’s Hen
You don’t know me but I am Nate’s mom. I have been reading you and your teams blogs to find out what is going on over there in Guatemala. He is so busy that he doesn’t get a lot of time to e-mail his mom. Little do you know that you have been my connection to my son. Thanks for commenting on him. He is a great kid and it has been a joy to read his blogs and watch him grow in the Lord. God is using him in ways I never imagined.
Looks like all of you are really enjoying your time over there. We hope and pray the rest of your week is as wonderful. Please say hi to Nate for me.
Kathy Door
p.s. we are also friends with Larry and Mary Molegraaf
Hinnie,
That is so exciting that the families were able to recieve the Good News and welcome Jesus as their saviour.WOW! I am so bumbed I am not there, however there have been many prayers lifted up for the team. Can’t wait to see all of you again. Terry rom 10:15
What a wonderful dedication day you had! The Lord is using you in a great and mighty way.
We’ll pray for your team as you travel to the coast for the clinic today. Tell Nate to drive safely.
I’ve heard good things about Nate’s french toast. We have tasted some of his other work, and it has all been sooo good!
We saw Frank at Panera this morning. He couldn’t sit with us, becasue he was already at the big table. He is doing OK, but I think he really misses you!
Buenas tardes Henie ..,
I pray the clinic went well today for all of you, I don’t know if Paradise Bound is showing a Jesus movie about salvation or someone is giving a spoken message about salvation but I’m sure either way the Lord will bless it and the Holy Spirit will lead you all. Most of those people probably never even heard the message of salvation before. We can you help you by supporting you in our prayers. The daily prayer list that comes from our church by email lifts you up daily this past week. I sat with Mac & Neal at Panera this morning.., they all missed you then Larry/Mary stopped by also. Thay all have been praying this week for you and the mission that you’re doing. Mary asked if I was getting by okay. It was also different shopping the mall without you today, it is so nice out I took the other car out of storage and drove it to help charge the battery. I’m taking it back as soon as I finish this message. I’ll talk to you again very soon.
Buenas noches, y el amor, Frank
Hi two beloved sisters and Nano. (I’m being lazy and posting same comments to all three of you.) Pray all is going well for you and all that you’re doing. All is well in MI, no snow, 37 degrees…probably 45 degrees cooler than you, right? Henie, how sweet of you to make Frank his favorite cake before you left. He was so bored he went to Panera this morning. )
I pray that tomorrow will be another good day for you at the clinic and you’ll have safe travels there and back. May God bless all of you and all that you’re doing for Him. You are all in our prayers! Love, Ev
I visited Guatemala in 2000 and found the people warm and friendly. The scenic beauty of the lakes and 10,000 ‘ volcanoes was spectacular. Your mission trip is trulu inspirational. I hope things are going well, that you return trip goes smoothly…and that your life is as enriched as those of the people your group has touched. Steve Miller (on the road in central Louisiana).
Buenos días Henie,
I just finished my walk this morning, I did seven miles. The weather is nice, a balmy 32 degrees this morning but there’s a winter storm coming in Monday thru Tuesday afternoon with six to eight inches of snow. The worst of it should be done when you fly into Detroit on Tuesday. I’m glad I took Wednesday off as vacation to spend some time with you. I have been viewing the pictures on the web site, you have all been quite busy, I pray the clinic went as well yesterday (Saturday). I’m sure I’ll see a lot of people at church today asking questions about your trip and as whole church they’ll be lifting you all up in prayers. Have a relaxing day today.., thinking of you a lot. I hope you’re getting a lot of photos on that new camera of yours. May the Lord be with you today and give Grace, Hope, and Peace.
Adiós por ahora, el amor, Frank 007
Dear Everyone,
We just got up for another beautiful Lord’s Day. Please excuse all of the typing errors that I make in all of my letters, but there is no mouse with this thing, and I usually have to type in a hurry.
This will be our longest day so far. I think a two and a half drive each way to the coast. This village is supposed to have 125 families. So there will be LOTS of children for us to entertain while paretns are in the med clinic. We will nonce again show the Jesus film and then here a powerfufl, passionate sermon from Hernando Jesus. Please keep praying that these people will come to know jesus as their Savior once agian. We rejoiced again lasat night when so many were welcomed into the family of God. LOTS of children too. Nate and two other.s ecen gave their personal testimony of how the Lord has ch ged ther lives, and how they will never be the same. TO Nate’smom, he is full of love for the Lord. everyone teases him, becasue we all like him, but he can give it back to us too~
It was 86 yesterday, and is to be hot again today. So, I better enjoy it while I can.I am so grateful for all of your prayers for myself and our team. We can feel the Holy Spirit’s presence in so many ways, as it’s only becasue of His power that so many lives are being forever changed. We are only channels of His message of salvation. It will be after midnight when we return , so goodby for now. Love Hen
Dear Frank,
We have afew more minutes before we have devotions, and then we hit the road. I see that Anna put over a hundred pictures on the web site. I saw some of them and just wondered if you would be able to put them on a cd or something, and then have pictures mase of them at costco?? The only house that she didn’t take pictures of was the teams house that I was on, but that will be ok, as I have some of that one. We built our home right on the edge of a drop off, and after the little overhang porch was put on there was only about one foot to stand and hard to take a picture.
Here is one of the thought questions that Dan asked us during devotions one night. He said,If you can count them, then it’s not enough. What is it? Some said things like blessing’s, how often a day the Lord forgives our sins etc. Well, the answer he was looking for was this. How many times a day do we think of Christ? If we can count them, then it’s not enough.
It was so nice to hear from Steve! That was so very nice of him to send me a message!! bye for now, Love Hen
Hi Hen..,
I have already downloaded 150 photos from the web site, I can make a DVD slide show and put music to it. I shared some of your emails with the church this morning and Pastor Ken gave a prayer for you and the group. I’m making a salad today for lunch.., I have lost enough weight since you have been gone that I got into a pair of slacks that were too tight before to get on.., can you stay a few more weeks??? Just kidding.., I miss you. My prayers are with you.., Love Frank
Hi Henie
Just wanted to say HI!!!! and to say how proud I am of you and the work that you are doing down there Guatemala. Is Frank doing okay by himself? I am keeping you in my prayers while you are there and on your return flight home. The people in Guatemala are very fortunate to have people like you to come into their country. Prayerfully, Sandy
Henie, how are you? Sounds like you are getting a lot done down there, Frank gives us all updates here in the IT area of Zondervans. He downloads photos and then sends them to us by way of MS Messenger to our desktops. I heard about your sunburn, too bad, I hope it feels better. Well I pray you continue to enjoy yourself and make a difference in those peoples lives down there. Hopefully I see you soon again when you visit us at Zondervans.
In our prayers Alane
We had a wonderful worship service this morning & now we are thinking of you as you are serving the Lord with your team.
We are grateful to God that HE is using you as an instrument for HIS Kingdom.
The Lord can do more than we can ever ask, or think or even begin to imagine.
Your e-mail’s brought tear’s to our eye’s !!!! Tear’s of JOY!!!!
Hello Hennie,
How exciting that you are now back to Guatemala, that is next to my home country Honduras. I heard you are building houses for the villagers, that is wonderful. I hope you are having a fun time and safe trip. Do you get to meet a lot of the residents? I will keep you in my prayers and that you have a safe trip home next week.
See you soon. Oneyda
Greetings Hennie,
Great work that you and your team are doing. We met Frank at Rivertown yesterday AM. He was telling about all the work you have been doing. Hope you have a safe trip home. God bless!
Ellen Doorn
Hi Henie –
We’ve never met but hopefully we will soon at Panera I’m not much of a morning person but our dear friends, Larry & Mary Molegraaf, are regulars on Saturday morning. I’ve heard a lot about “Frank & Henie” and now I know who they are talking about. I had the pleasure last year of serving with your niece, Nancy, on the painting team for the new base. (she’s also a very competitive card player )
Praying that the medical clinic tonight was a great harvest for HIS kingdom and that you have an enjoyable & relaxing time in Antigua tomorrow, followed by devotions that are filled with the Holy Spirit!!
I’m also an Ivanrest member so thank you for keeping us updated on Nate – he’s a very special person!
Thank you for giving, loving, & serving!
Blessings,
Karen Lepine
Good Morning Sweetheart,
Just finished the work for the warehouse, it was snowing pretty heavy on the way to work this morning, glad I have four wheel drive. Hopefully the worst of the snow will be over by the time you fly into Detroit. Remember when you call me Tuesday evening to leave your cell phone on at that point. I’m glad you all accomplished as much as you have while in Guatemala. You will all be in my prayers as you make your way back to this winter wonderland, I may take Thursday off as well.., we’ll see. Take care and may the Lord protect you as you journey back home. Love you always.., frank
Good Morning!
The sun is shining, another beautiful day here. We returned home last night around midnight. It was a awesome day at the medical clinic. We sure felt the prayers of family, friends and loved ones back home in a special way yesterday. The med clinic was at at OLD plantation. It was a few hours away, near the coast. We took the two vans plus the old explorer, as there were 22 people that went. That included a medical person, a nd stopping to pick up Hernando Jesus. Anyway, the closer we got the plantation, the hotter it got. It went as high as 112 degrees on the thermnator inside of the explorer! Once we got there it was a 105. Once we got off of the paved road and headed for the plantation, the narrow path up and round and round curves that were right on the edge of the Mt, the narrow path we took was UNDESCRABLE!. It at one time must have pabed with cobble stones, and now was nothing but loose , mamoth rock. Also ma ny, many, many hugh 1 foot sink holes, huge ruts etc. Thank the Lord we made it and the fords as well. THose roads and our vechicles would make a tremendous advertisement for Ford s!
There were many people at the clinic. As you can imagine these people, I would say for the most part never ever come off that high, mt. with treasurous roads. Besides there was nothing for tmen to drive anyway. We saw mangles, bannana trees, and sugar can being harvested along the way. I could not take pictures as rocked and rolled, side to side ll of the time.
Ma ny people came to know the Lord once again after the film was shown and the message was given. PTL!! There were many children for us to entertain for nearly 6 hours. So many of them as well, came forward too. They just cried out for Jesus, on their knees, oh how we cried along with them. They willnow most likely be in for a real spiritual battle from the ones who want to stay steeped in their old rituals of an unknown God. We must really keep praying for them after we leave this place. They always receive a bible and I also handed out some tracts that I had taken along.
Well,I am going to head outside and have my devotions, looking out at the beautiful view of the mountains, an d thinking of God’s majesty.
We are going shoppin around 10:30 in Antigua. We’re looking forward to that!!
PS TO Nate’s mother. How bad was the road last night, well he drove once again as Dan has not ben feeling real good all week. The last big rocky hole that we had to bounce through, he knocked down the left side of the back bumper. Guess what, on the return trip, the other side went down. So now the bumper looks kind of u shape. Praise the Lord though that we all made it down safely, especialy with the darkness. God is GOOD!
Love Henie
Henie, Marcia and Nancy…Praying often, wishing you all God Speed on your travels tomorrow….safe flights and safe travels home. Hope you’re having a good time today and enjoying your well-deserved break. Enjoy your sunshine and warmth while you can…28 degrees here and lots of snow. Very beautiful from inside the house! God’s beauty in a far different way from yours. I love you very much! God bless and keep you in His care! Ev
Hi Hen,
I hope you’re enjoying another wonderful day, and doing a little shopping. I pray you have a safe flight tomorrow morning and it will great to see you again. I had lunch today with Ann up at Peking Inn. The weather seems to be clearing a bit here, we must have gotten a few inches of snow, but it is warm in the lower 30′s so the snow will not stay long. I’ll wait for your call tomorrow, remember to call the cell number. Love you bunches, frank
Hi Henie,
I hope you enjoyed your day of shopping today. It’s nice to have some down time after all that physical and emotional exhaustion.
You have been such a blessing to so many people there.
Have a wonderful devotional time tonight, and a safe and easy trip home tomorrow.
We’ll hope to see you at Panera on Saturday.

Hi Hennie,
You don’t know me but I am Nate’s mom.
Henie,
What a wonderful dedication day you had!
Mary Molegraaf
He was so bored he went to Panera this morning.
)
I pray that tomorrow will be another good day for you at the clinic and you’ll have safe travels there and back. May God bless all of you and all that you’re doing for Him. You are all in our prayers! Love, Ev
PS: Chris is doing very well, went home from rehab center this morning, PTL
Hi Henie,
I visited Guatemala in 2000 and found the people warm and friendly.

Hello Hennie,
How exciting that you are now back to Guatemala, that is next to my home country Honduras. I heard you are building houses for the villagers, that is wonderful. I hope you are having a fun time and safe trip. Do you get to meet a lot of the residents? I will keep you in my prayers and that you have a safe trip home next week.
See you soon. Oneyda
Greetings Hennie,
Great work that you and your team are doing. We met Frank at Rivertown yesterday AM. He was telling about all the work you have been doing. Hope you have a safe trip home. God bless!
Ellen Doorn
Hi Henie –
I’m not much of a morning person but our dear friends, Larry & Mary Molegraaf, are regulars on Saturday morning. I’ve heard a lot about “Frank & Henie” and now I know who they are talking about. I had the pleasure last year of serving with your niece, Nancy, on the painting team for the new base. (she’s also a very competitive card player
)
We’ve never met but hopefully we will soon at Panera
Love Henie

Hi Hen,
I hope you’re enjoying another wonderful day, and doing a little shopping.
Mary
Hello Everyone,
What a beautiful day we had, shopping in Antuigua. The people on this trip are all such beautiful and fun to be with christians. Nancy, Marcia and I took a ride in a tuk tuk’s They are little 3 wheel taxi’s. What a hoot!!
Nate drove again in the van that I was in. We have lots of fun with him. We rocked and rolled all the home, down the bumpy, dusty roads.
Thank you all so very much for your prayers for all of us. We could feel God answering them all through the week. He has provided us with safety and above all the blessing of seeing lives changed for all eternity.

Hi Hennie,
Just wanted to thank you for all of your up-dates on the team and my son, Nate.
It is amazing to me to read all the posts of everyone and how they all have the same tone. One of what an amazing God we serve, how privileged we are and how much work there is to do. We’ll be praying for a safe trip home for all of you and that the spirit will continue to work in your lives.
Thanks again,
Kathy
